The annual Children’s Dinner Party – a magical evening for our Kindergarten students

The annual Children’s Dinner Party began nearly 20 years ago and has become a much-loved tradition at St Michael’s, and a rite of passage for our eldest Kindergarten students.

This year’s Dinner Party was held last Thursday evening and, as always, it was the highlight of the year for the students and staff who attended.

“This special evening is a celebration of the student’s learning journey in Margaret Thomas House Kindergarten, an experience that is sure to become a lasting memory for everyone involved,” said Margaret Thomas House Coordinator, Mrs Alexandra Fegan.

The students were dropped off at School by their families and enjoyed canapés, followed by a delicious pasta dinner and ice cream for dessert in their beautifully decorated classrooms.

It was wonderful to see the excitement and joy on the student’s faces as they walked into their classrooms and saw how the rooms had been transformed for the evening.

The students and their teachers then went on a wander around the School with torches to see if they could spot possums in the trees.

The students were all delighted by the special occasion and have shared some of their thoughts about the evening below.

“When I first walked in it was amazing, I loved having dinner because it was yummy,” said Ella.

“I loved it because when I walked in I liked seeing the lights and the disco ball and I liked going outside to do the nature walk and going to the oval and we saw lots of bats,” said Jack.

“I was waiting my whole life for this,” said Isabelle.

“It was good and I loved it and it was the best day ever,” said Connor.

The Dinner Party is an opportunity for us to marvel at the wonder and joy that is in abundance whenever one enters into conversation with our friends from the Arbor and Silvae rooms. Head of the School, Mrs Terrie Jones

We are thankful to the staff of Margaret Thomas House for continuing this tradition each year and for sharing their inspiration and creativity with the students on this special evening.
