Learning
Holistic education that prepares students for the future
Our educational program engages students from Early Learning to Year 12 intellectually, physically and socially. Our holistic focus begins in the early years, where the Reggio Emilia Educational Project’s principles of inquiry and exploration inspire thinking, collaboration and challenge.
This continues throughout Kindergarten to Year 12, with a strong focus on combining academic studies with exceptional wellbeing programs and Co-Curricular opportunities.
Students consistently report a highly positive school experience*
*The class of 2024 participated in the annual Independent Schools Victoria Exit Survey, which compares our students’ experience at St Michael’s to those of other students in 112 similar independent schools across Victoria.

St Michael’s has been refining co-education since the 1970s, ensuring balanced classrooms where students of all genders learn, grow and develop together.
As a private co-educational school, we understand how girls learn and develop. St Michael’s supports their confidence, engagement and growth.
Our co-educational approach ensures boys build independence, resilience and a strong foundation for future success.
St Michael’s is one of Australia’s leading independent coeducational schools, educating more than 1200 students from Kindergarten to VCE. We acknowledge the Boonwurrung People of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which St Michael’s stands. We pay respect to their ancestors, elders and emerging leaders, and we are committed to reconciliation through authentic relationships and continued cultural learning.
