This year’s Music at the Centre concert features two contrasting epic works associated with the theme of conflict.
Jeff Wayne’s musical version of the H.G. Wells novel The War of the Worlds was a landmark album of the 1970s. In Act One, St Michael’s will present thrilling highlights from this album, showcasing a massed ensemble of 120 student instrumentalists, a rock band, narrator and singers, along with a multimedia feast for the senses.
In Act Two, the combined might of the St Michael’s Harrison Choirs will perform Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis (Mass for troubled times), more commonly known as the Nelson Mass.
This concert features student performers from Years 4 to 12.
The concert will commence at 7pm and is expected to conclude by approximately 8.45pm. There will be a short interval between the two major acts.
