Join us for the 2025 St Michael’s Parent Expo—an evening of learning, insight, and connection for parents and caregivers.

We’re delighted to welcome renowned adolescent psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg as our keynote speaker. You’ll also have the opportunity to attend two targeted sessions on current parenting topics, delivered by a mix of leading external presenters and our own St Michael’s wellbeing experts.

Breakout Sessions

Option 1: Smart Study Support – How Parents Can Build Positive Study Habits at Home (Without the Arguments)

Recommended for: Parents of students in Years 7–12

Why does study time so often lead to stress and conflict? This session explores five practical, research-based strategies to support your teen’s focus and motivation—without the battles.

Presented by St Michael’s specialists in adolescent psychology and wellbeing, this session will help you build calm, structured study routines at home.

 

Option 2: Keep Calm and Parent On – Navigating the Teen Years

Recommended for: Parents of students in Years 6–10

Understand what’s going on in your teen’s brain—and how to respond with confidence and care.

This supportive session offers practical tools for emotion coaching, setting boundaries, and maintaining connection through the ups and downs of adolescence.

 

Option 3: Video Games – Promoting Healthy Gaming Habits and Boundaries

Recommended for: Parents of students in Years 4–12

Gaming doesn’t have to be a source of conflict. Learn how to turn it into an opportunity for connection and growth.

Led by Andrew Kinch, founder of GameAware, this session explores what drives gaming behaviour and how to set realistic, respectful boundaries that support healthy use.

 

Option 4: Behind the Screens – Guiding Young People Toward Safety and Self-Respect in the Digital Age

Recommended for: Parents of students in Years 5–12

Explore how to guide your child through the risks of the online world—sexting, image sharing, digital footprints—and foster habits built on safety, respect and awareness.

This session aligns with our school-wide wellbeing education and provides strategies to support digital safety at home.

 

Option 5: Friendship Foundations – Supporting Your Child’s Social Journey

Recommended for: Parents of students in Kindergarten to Year 6

Learn how to coach your child through the ups and downs of friendships using strategies that build empathy, resilience and social confidence.

This session connects with our School’s friendship curriculum and equips you to nurture healthy peer relationships at home.

 

Option 6: Building Resilience and Self-Regulation in the Early Years

Recommended for: Parents of students in Kindergarten to Year 6

Support your child’s emotional development and wellbeing with strategies that help them manage emotions, face challenges and grow in confidence.

This session offers simple, effective tools to foster resilience both at home and in the classroom.
