• All applicants will be required to sit the academic scholarship exam, which will be held at St Michael’s Grammar School on Saturday 7 February 2026.
• Performing Arts auditions for eligible students will also take place in early 2026.
• Attending an open morning or a small group tour is an important part of the scholarship process, as it helps students and families gain a deeper understanding of our community and values.
• In keeping with our commitment to assist students who otherwise may not be able to benefit from a St Michael’s education, we strongly recommend applying for means-testing.

How many scholarships does St Michael’s offer each year?
The number of new scholarships awarded each year depends on the number of applicants, their strengths against the criteria, and available funding. There is no fixed number of scholarships offered annually.
My child is already on the waitlist or has a confirmed place for a future year level. Can I still apply for a scholarship?
Yes, the regular enrolment process and the scholarship process run independently of each other.
My child has applied in the past but was unsuccessful. Can they apply again?
Yes, previous applicants are welcome to apply again.
When I select the scholarship category I would like my child to be considered for, is this fixed?
No, the Scholarship Committee will assess each application and may determine that a scholarship in a different category is more suitable.
What is involved in the optional means testing component?
This component is an optional additional criterion. Families must indicate on the AAS application if they wish to be considered.
Families should then email scholarships@stmichaels.vic.edu.au to request further information. They will be provided with a secure link to upload documents including an Excel file titled ‘Means Testing Scholarship Financial Statement’, which asks for details of the family’s annual income and expenses. Families must also submit full tax returns (not just Notices of Assessment) for each parent for the past two years.
In line with our commitment to supporting students who may not otherwise access a St Michael’s education, the family’s financial situation will be reviewed via the information provided on the Means Testing Scholarship Financial Statement and previous two tax returns.
There is no set income threshold for a family to be considered for means testing. Each family’s income and expenses are assessed, and scholarships are offered between 25–100% remission of tuition fees (excluding payroll tax and levies). Greater weighting is given to families for whom the scholarship would make a significant financial difference, if their child also meets other requirements of the scholarship application process.
What can my child do to prepare for the exam?
AAS has information for parents on scholarship test details and how to help your child prepare. Please visit this page of their website for further information.
My child has not been invited to an audition/ interview. Is their application considered unsuccessful?
Not necessarily. Depending on how the audition/interview process progresses, additional students may be invited at a later stage.
When will the process be finalised?
The process is expected to be completed by early April 2026. All families will receive a notification from the School once it is complete.
