Community Snapshot

At St Michael’s Grammar, our students, staff, and families come from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences, creating an inclusive community where everyone connects through our shared School values of Dignity, Respect, Care and Compassion.

Deeply committed to genuine co-education, we ensure that gender-balance remains close to 50/50 in every year level, and deliver proactive academic, social and developmental supports to all genders as they navigate learning together, at every age and stage.

With a comprehensive St Michael's bus service available at no extra cost to families, students can travel to and from School safely and with ease. Our bus routes start in suburbs such as Port Melbourne, Altona, Camberwell, Essendon, Footscray, Mentone and Northcote.

Founded by the Sisters of the Community Church in 1895, an Anglo-Catholic order known for their commitment to social justice and empowerment through education, St Michael's has always accepted students of a range of faith backgrounds.

Today, St Michael's is a vibrant and diverse reflection of Greater Melbourne, with most families indicating no formal faith background, as well as many that are Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist and Muslim.

St Michael’s is one of Australia’s leading independent coeducational schools, educating more than 1200 students from Kindergarten to VCE. We acknowledge the Boonwurrung People of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which St Michael’s stands. We pay respect to their ancestors, elders and emerging leaders, and we are committed to reconciliation through authentic relationships and continued cultural learning.
