VCE Excellence

At St Michael’s, we take immense pride in our students’ VCE achievements, which reflect our commitment to nurturing individuality, fostering a supportive community, and preparing students for the future. Our inclusive co-education model, with over 40 years of experience, ensures that every student is valued and supported.

This year, our students have once again demonstrated their dedication and hard work, achieving impressive results across a range of subjects. These outcomes are a testament to our innovative curriculum that integrates industry engagement, entrepreneurship, and tech-focused learning, equipping our students with the skills needed for the evolving job landscape.

Class of 2025

In 2025, strong scores were achieved across a broad range of studies, but particularly in the creative and Performing Arts, with study scores of 40 and above for 75% of our Art Creative Practice, 33% of Visual Communication Design students, 33% of Music Repertoire students and 33% Theatre Studies students.

An outstanding 29% of students have achieved an ATAR of 90 or higher, with more than half of the cohort achieving an ATAR over 80

  • 29% of students achieved ATARs over 90 (top 10% of Victorian students)
  • 55% of students achieved ATARs over 80 (top 20 % of Victorian students)
  • Median ATAR: 83.35
  • Median Study Score: 32

These results highlight our unwavering commitment to academic excellence and our ability to support students in reaching their full potential. Our consistent performance underscores the effectiveness of our teaching methods and the dedication of our students and staff. At St Michael’s, we continue to strive for excellence, ensuring that every student is equipped with the knowledge and skills to succeed in their future endeavours.

Diverse backgrounds of top achievers

Our top achievers in 2025 include a balanced representation of genders, with an equal number of male and female identifying students achieving an ATAR above 90. This impressive performance highlights our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where every student can excel.

Our Dux for the past four years has been female, challenging the myth that girls perform better in single-sex schools.

Tertiary pathways

St Michael’s prepares our students for their future by ensuring they are well-placed for their next steps. There was no better testament to this than in 2024, when 100% of our graduating class received their first preference for their tertiary studies. We look forward to witnessing what we are confident will be a similarly impressive result in 2025. Our commitment to providing a comprehensive and supportive educational experience ensures that our students are equipped to pursue their chosen pathways with confidence and success.

St Michael’s is one of Australia’s leading independent coeducational schools, educating more than 1200 students from Kindergarten to VCE. We acknowledge the Boonwurrung People of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which St Michael’s stands. We pay respect to their ancestors, elders and emerging leaders, and we are committed to reconciliation through authentic relationships and continued cultural learning.
