The St Michael’s Scholarship program plays a critical role in ensuring diversity in our School community.
Our Scholarships recognise the different attributes, interests, and character of students and we welcome applications from a diverse range of students who will benefit from a St Michael’s education and make a contribution to our School, and the broader community.
The program seeks to provide opportunities for students who otherwise may not be able start, or continue their St Michael’s education entering Years 5 to Year 11.
All Scholarships are offered from the year of award until completion of Year 12, subject to satisfactory progress. Student progress is assessed on an ongoing basis and formally reviewed at the end of Year 6 and Year 9. Scholarship students will be assigned a mentor to support their learning journey at the school. Contributing Citizen Scholarships
We instil in our students the confidence to lead in their fields of endeavour, the determination to follow their passions and the wisdom to live balanced and meaningful lives, inspired by a commitment to making the world a better place. St Michael’s Strategic Direction: Towards 2030.
In keeping with our Strategic Direction and our values of Dignity, Respect, Care and Compassion, our Contributing Citizen Scholarships are awarded to new students who have already demonstrated strong community spirit and a desire to make a difference to the world around them. We want our students to embrace their social responsibility and act for the benefit of society.
Students considered for this Scholarships are those who are enthusiastic and reliable contributors to civic life, in and outside of school. While demonstrated leadership and community service is a significant factor, we also want our students to develop their life skills across a broad range of competencies, and other areas of strength or passion are well regarded. This may include sport, the performing arts, visual arts or design, science and technology, environmental sustainability, politics, social justice, academia, or other community endeavours.
Evidence of these attributes must be provided in support of the application.
Scholarships are awarded to new students entering Years 5-11 in 2025. In keeping with our commitment to assist students who otherwise may not be able to benefit from a St Michael’s education, these scholarships are means tested.
High Achiever Scholarships
Our School is respected for its exceptional educational offering and our focus on nurturing our students’ talents and passions to enable them to actualise their full potential. High Achiever Scholarships recognise students who have demonstrated outstanding talent in one or more areas of endeavour and who wish to continue to develop those talents. It is expected that students who receive a High Achiever Scholarships will remain committed to nurturing their talents and enriching the School through active participation in School programs.
These scholarships are not restricted to academic achievements, and we welcome applications from new and current students who excel in one or more of the following: sport, the performing arts – dance, drama, voice or instrumental music, visual arts and design, science and technology.

Applicants may indicate the Scholarship for which they wish to be considered, however the School may consider students for any Scholarship for which they are eligible.
In addition to the above Scholarships, the Head of the School, at their discretion, may award a Scholarship based on a recommendation from the Scholarship Committee. These Scholarships are known as Head of the School Scholarships.
St Michael’s partners with Academic Assessment Services to collate applications and conduct academic testing. Information about the style of test and suggested preparation can be found on their website.
New students not yet attending the School, will apply for the Contributing Citizen Scholarships and then optionally apply for the High Achiever Scholarships.
Current students will apply for the High Achiever Scholarships.
Step 1 – Complete your Scholarship application.
Step 2 –All applicants to sit the AAS Scholarship Exam on Saturday 1 February 2025 at St Michael’s Grammar School.
Step 3 – Short listed applicants will be invited to interview with a member of the St Michael’s Executive to discuss their academic performance and achievements in their area of interest.
Step 4 – The Head of School, at their discretion, will offer Scholarships for 25% – 100% of tuition fees in writing.
Step 5 – All applicants will receive the results of their academic test at the conclusion of the Scholarship process.
