The Gipson Commons reflects our belief in the potential of each St Michael’s student. Spaces for collaborative learning and personal reflection are central, expressing each student’s ability to make a contribution to our School’s creative and intellectual heritage. This facility substantially expands the physical infrastructure of our campus, providing students and staff with distinctive learning spaces equipped for 21st century educational challenges.
The Gipson Commons is a genuine Kindergarten to Year 12 environment, where students are challenged according to their own skill level within a technologically advanced three-level building. With features including flexible classrooms, secluded ‘pods’ for individual study, breakout spaces, and custom-designed science areas, the building also connects students with the latest knowledge across a variety of media.
A centre of research within this innovative new building, the Knowledge Commons, provides students with comprehensive access to educational resources, including access to an extensive physical collection and electronic research database. This future-focused learning facility reflects our commitment to intellectual innovation.
An enclosed cafeteria area seats up to 200 within a pleasant area for meals and conversations. This multi-functional café style environment is also ideal for class functions and other large-scale events. It is complemented by a capacious adjacent Food and Technology facility, which features industrial-grade equipment and fully flexible workspaces.
