Once a student completes their educational journey at St Michael’s Grammar School, they become part of the Old Michaelian Association.
The Old Michaelian Association Committee (OMAC) aims to connect past students with the School and each other. The OMAC organises a variety of functions for Old Michaelians, including reunions, sporting and performing arts events, and other social activities. The group actively seeks to support the School in all its activities, particularly by promoting and fostering the heritage of St Michael’s. The OMAC accomplishes these aims through its areas of focus; Year 12 Engagement, Connections, Reunions, Sport, Performing Arts, Staff and Merchandise.
St Michael’s has had an alumni association since 1911. More than 7000 Old Michaelians are still connected with the School, and more than 2,500 are currently members of the Old Michaelian Facebook group. We invite you to join and participate in our growing online community.
The OMAC also consists of the Archives Sub-Committee, which seeks to preserve the rich history of the School. The Sandra Matheson Archives is located on the ground floor of The Gipson Commons, with viewing appointments able to be made through the Archives Sub-Committee, or at scheduled archiving sessions held throughout the year.
Alumni news is shared across the Old Michaelian network through the Old Michaelian Facebook group, SMGS Generation, The Crest Magazine and email updates.
In 2020, we have also launched Stories from The Crest, a podcast created by TV producer Claudia Nankervis (OM 2012), and emerging filmmaker Fraser Pemberton (OM 2011), sharing the stories of Old Michaelians from across the history of the School.
In this interview style podcast, Fraser and Claudia explore the lives of Old Michaelians who share a common link through their school, but that have very different stories to tell. It is our hope that the thoughtful, witty and wise reflections of these Old Michaelians will provide our current and former students, staff, parents and members of the wider community with insights and perspectives to inspire them into the future.
Our first series features the stories of Winter Olympian Brodie Summers (OM 2011), the first female chief medical officer in the Commonwealth Department of Health and Family Services Judith Whitworth (OM 1961), Hollywood film director Patrick Hughes (OM 1996) and AFLW star Isabelle Huntington (OM 2017).

Reunions bring our Old Michaelians’ rich knowledge of the School’s history to life. Every five years, past students are invited back to the School to renew friendships, connect with past teachers, tour the campus, and ask questions regarding recent developments. To find out when your next Old Michaelian reunion is taking place, visit our Events page.
If you wish to update your details to ensure you receive communication from the School by mail, including reunion invitations, you can update your details at any time.
The role of the Committee is to work closely with the School in order to support the growing alumni network. It supports a number of activities including:
