Akira participated in the solo category of Years 5–6 students and successfully placed third. ‘If you’ve been to Japan, as well as Japanese school, and both parents speak the language, you’re placed in the more difficult round,’ explains Akira.

Kayne and Jude represented the school as a pair in the primary category of Years 5–6 students. ‘There were six boys and 22 girls participating and there were three rounds of competition,’ says Jude.

‘We came fourth, and the fourth place doesn’t receive anything, but it was really fun and I’m going to do it again next year!’ Kayne adds.

We wish these three students all the best for next year’s contest!
