This year we are delighted to announce that the money we raise will go to help the following charities:
Christian Care Centre – Solomon Islands run by the Community Sisters of the Church
The Christian Care Centre is the sole outreach centre for women and children who are victims of domestic violence in the Solomon Islands. Sisters from the Community of the Sisters of the Church work alongside Sisters of the Church of Melanesia in providing care for victims of domestic violence and other forms of abuse. The Sisters also run The Emily School, a K-4 school for children of plantation workers who cannot access the local schools because of the dangers posed by logging trucks.
The Robert Connor Dawes Foundation
Inspired by a big heart and brain, the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation was created in June 2013 in the memory of Robert ‘Connor’ Dawes. RCD is battling paediatric brain tumours and supporting brain matters in the areas of research, care and development – to fund the science to end brain cancer and support patients in the meantime.
Helping Hoops
Helping Hoops is an independent charity that runs free basketball programs for over 1,000 children who have an intellectual disability, special needs, are from a migrant or refugee background, are living in inner-city public housing estates or are socio-economically disadvantaged.
The Leukaemia Foundation
The Leukaemia Foundation is the only national charity dedicated to helping Australians survive blood cancer and live a better quality of life. This year the Foundation is celebrating the 20 year anniversary of the World’s Greatest Shave.
