Congratulations to Isabel Huntington (12M), who has just been selected as pick No.1 by the Western Bulldogs in this year’s AFL Women’s draft!

This is a particularly amazing achievement given Isabel has been completing Year 12 this year and leading the School as Co-Captain (7–12).

As well as focusing on her Year 12 studies, with a long-term goal of studying Medicine, Isabel has been dedicated in a rehabilitation program in order to overcome an ACL injury she sustained in the youth girls’ exhibition match at Whitten Oval in September last year.

Coach of the Western Bulldogs, Paul Groves, announced the pick, and when asked about the Club’s selection, said, “Well look, she’s nearly as tall as me.”

“She’s the complete package of a footballer, so really hard to go past.”

Asked where he thought Isabel was most dangerous on the field, he simply said, “Everywhere”.

The School watched the draft live in the Atrium in The Gipson Commons. It is the final week at the School for Isabel and the rest of our Year 12’s, culminating in Valedictory Day tomorrow, where students will exit the School before VCE examinations.

We can’t wait to watch Isabel in Bulldogs’ colours in the upcoming AFLW season!
