The Primary School was abuzz with excitement on Monday as our students welcomed their grandparents and special friends to join them for an afternoon of fun and shared learning.
Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day was a wonderful opportunity for students in Kindergarten to Year 6 to invite grandparents, a special family friend or a parent to join them at School to celebrate their learning this year.

“Close grandparent-grandchild and relationships with special family friends are indicative of strong family ties overall,” said St Michael’s Associate Head (K-6), Mrs Nicole Ginnane. “Inter-generational bonds come with distinctive benefits for students and their families, including a feeling of connection and belonging, along with improved mental health outcomes for all.”
“The big smiles from students and their special visitors are proof of this strong connection and its benefits,” said Mrs Ginnane.
Our students proudly showed their visitors what they have been learning this year and organised a fun activity to do together.
Year 4 students created a set of questions to ask their visitors about what school was like for them, Year 5 students and visitors sewed flowers together and Year 6 students gave their visitors a sneak peek into the songs they will be performing during the Year 6 Musical later this year.

Our visitors were also invited to attend afternoon tea in Dolly’s Café where they were entertained by performances from our talented Years 5 and 6 Harrison Choir and Years 3 and 4 Chamber Choir.
Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day was a wonderful celebration of learning in the junior years and a fantastic opportunity for our students to share their world with the significant people in their lives.
