From the Director – Legally Blonde, The Musical

The annual Years 10–12 Musical has always been a highlight event – this year is no exception, with ‘girl power’ resonating from the roof. St Michael’s proudly presents Legally Blonde, The Musical at the National Theatre, Melbourne from 3 – 5 May.

From the Director – Legally Blonde, The Musical

The confectionary charms of the story of Elle Woods transformation as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams at Harvard Law School, has been wholeheartedly embraced by students in their involvement and dedication as seen throughout rehearsals.

Uitilising 100 students in cast, crew and orchestra, the musical is deliciously packed with large sets, big dance numbers and generous singing, which are bound to get parents and audience members out of their seats.

Although the combination of a shorter rehearsal period and lengthier show duration presented some challenges, the quality of work students have displayed has been impressive, and they’re one of the most cohesive casts to date.

The love, care and compassion students display for each other’s work and the show itself has been inspiring to myself and fellow staff members involved in the musical production.

I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of ‘girl power’ on stage, as well as the group of boys that have learned to dance for the first time and throw in the occasional cheerleader lift – executed with great aplomb and commitment! If you haven’t already, purchase tickets here.
