AskAnExpert@StMichael’s presents: Andrew Fuller – Building Resilience in Turbulent Times

St Michael’s Grammar School is pleased to announce that Andrew Fuller will be the next presenter at our signature series AskAnExpert@StMichael’s at 7pm on 14 November. Previously this important resource was only available to St Michael’s parents but we are delighted to now share it with the wider community.

St Michael’s has worked in partnership with Fuller for the past two years to improve student wellbeing outcomes, and in this online session he will be presenting on the topic: Building Resilience in Turbulent Times.

Andrew Fuller is a clinical psychologist, family therapist, author, speaker, and creator of Learning Strengths ™. He has worked with over 3,000 schools in Australia, NZ, Asia, and the UK and with more than 500,000 young people on core elements of resilience – connect, protect and respect (CPR) and building The Resilient Mindset, which he defines as “the happy knack of being able to bungy jump through the pitfalls of life to rise above adversity and obstacles”.

For this presentation he will be drawing from his books Tricky Behaviours and Unlocking your child’s Genius and will explore the following topics to provide a clear roadmap for parents to build this in their family and in their children.

  • The 3 active ingredients of resilience
  • Overcoming the issues of our times
    • loss of meaning and motivation
    • sleep disturbance
    • parenting tricky kids
    • opting out and avoidance
    • anxiety
  • What we can all do to prepare for a better future.

Following this session, Andrew will be joined by a panel of St Michael’s staff will be available to answer your questions. We welcome all parents in the community with children of all ages and year levels, as well as parents and educators from the wider community.
